Tomas Tronstad has a Master of Science degree in Marine Technology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and a Masters degree in Energy Management from the Norwegian School of Management/ESCP Paris. Tomas has 25 years of service in DNVGL (Classification, Research, Advisory); ship machinery approval and Head of Section for 13 years. He has spent 9 years in DNV Strategic Research and Innovation, working with energy management and new technologies in general and fuel cells in particular. He was initiator and project manager of the FellowSHIP project (fuel cells in shipping) from 2003 to 2010, which to date has the «world record» in fuel cell kW installed and operated in ships. From 2012, Tomas worked in DNVGL’s Maritime Advisory arm, where he was dedicated to exhaust gas cleaning for cruise vessels, ship machinery fuel efficiency, hybrid and battery technology including fuel cells, LNG and technology qualification. From September 2017 he is Man.Dir of Hyon AS; a joint venture owned by Nel ASA, Hexagon Composites ASA and PowerCell Sweden AB. The company deliver complete zero emission value chain solutions. From renewable hydrogen production, storage, distribution, dispensing to electricity generation via fuel cells.
